Heading to New Orleans
We were so worried Caleb would give us fits on the flight to New Orleans we reserved seats on a window and on an isle and left the middle seat open so that we could just take his car seat with us and stick him on the plane. At check in, the attendant told us that there were no empty seats out of Salt Lake Friday... great! We went through security and headed straight to the gate because we found out that Delta had down-graded our plane and the seats we'd reserved weren't guaranteed. The whole way there, Caleb kept reaching down and holding the front-right wheel. When I tried to take a picture of him, he totally stopped and posed for us with this cheezy little Caleb grin. It was funny. We requested seats together and the attendant took our boarding passes and told us she'd work on it and to check back in 20 minutes. We went back to the food court and had some Burger King breakfast sandwiches. Caleb wolfed down some of Amy's bacon crossaint sandwich and OJ.
We raced back to the terminal and we found that the gate attendant gave us the seats right behind first class. We pulled out Grandma Gilbert's mini DVD player, but it wouldn't play Nemo at all and Cars was really choppy. Eventually, I gave up and pulled out the laptop.
Caleb sat and watched Nemo until he fell asleep in Amy's arms (a miracle!!!!!). Eventually I laid my coat on the floor and used Caleb's coat as a pillow. We wrapped him up in the airline blankets (because his ding-a-ling Dad forgot his soft blanket at home) and he just stayed asleep for about an hour. He actually did pretty good!
