Halloween 2008

Caleb started out the day Friday getting to go to school dressed as Buzz Lightyear. He was so excited to wear buzz for the last day of "Tock-Tober" - that's how he pronounces October. He rides to school with Isaac and Ila Canlas were were a Dinosaur and Lady Bug.

That afternoon I picked up Isaac Canlas (whose parents are in Hawaii) and let him and Caleb go trick-or-treating together. Isaac was a Dinosaur and Caleb was Buzz. I was The Burger King...

The next day the boys played Wii

And ate Pizza

Then we could tell they were tired because they were just fighting constantly over transformers so I took Isaac home. When Caleb and I walked in the door it was about 4:30pm and Caleb just laid down on the kitchen floor like he was going to go to sleep right there. So we took him to Applebees for dinner and on the way home we stopped by Wal-Mart to rent I Am Legend from the RedBox. I got in the car and he smiled at me and was talking to Amy and then literally 4 seconds later he was asleep. Amy hadn't even put the car in gear and he was out.

We put him to bed at 6pm and he woke up at 6am, plus he gained an hour for DST so he slept 13 hours in a row!!!

Caleb's Swimming Goggles

Everytime Caleb takes a bath now he must have his swimming goggles on. He will swim around and arond and pretend he's a whale, or a sea turtle or a shark. It's really cute.

Maybe we'll be able to talk him taking his goggles to Pre-School for show-and-tell.

ATV-ing up American Fork Canyon

On Saturday I went up American Fork Canyon with my brother Dave on the ATV's. We had a blast.

We parked at the parking lot at Tibble Fork, then took the left fork up the canyon. I was amazed at how many trails and camp sites are up there. We saw a red-tailed hawk fly right infront of us.
We crossed a creek to get into one of the camp sites and you could tell it was Dave's 1st day on an ATV...

He got much better later, as you can see.

At least he didn't roll the ATV like I did. We were coming down the trail after 2 hours of fun and I wasn't really paying attention. I was kind-of standing up because it was rocky and my back was a little sore from sitting on the seat the whole time. Well, on the right side of the trail there was bank of dirt and as I went over it the front tire hit a rock that was at the top and since I was standing my center of gravity went off and the ATV started to roll to my left. I hopped off and rolled away from the ATV which Dave thought did a 360 and then onto it's side. It still ran fine and we made it down the mountain OK, but my I spraied my wrist and my lower back must have landed on a rock because it is still SORE. Anyway, I just rolled my eyes because I'd been so careful the whole time and with only 5 minutes left on our ride on the way down I go and don't pay attention and get up getting hurt. It was a good lesson for me to learn and I know I'll be more careful next time (if Amy doesn't sell the ATV's out from under me one day while I'm at work) :)

Caleb can float!!!

So in Tuesday's swim lesson, Caleb started right off by saying he needed to go to the bathroom and then he cried for about 10 minutes, but when he started floating he did OK.

Slip N Slide down the slide

On Thursday, Nicole and Bryan and the girls came down and ate dinner with us. Amy set up the slip and slide and put it at the end of the regular slide... behold the fun!!!

Caleb the Photographer

Today we had some shish-kabob's for dinner; teriyai chicken w/ pineapple, sweet and sour shrimp w/ apples and chicken meat balls. Yummy! We invited over Steve Stevens from our ward. His family has been gone to Thailand for the last 2 months and he also just suffered a 3rd degree shoulder separation... add to that, he had to work all weekend for Utah National Guard drills.

Caleb grabbed my camera today and said he wanted to take a picture. He went around with the camera at cockeyed angle and took a bunch of pictures.
Then I grabbed our 2nd camera and headed out back so I could show you Caleb's new artistic aspirations... Beware Jon Canlas!!! As you can see we set up the tent and slept in it last night and Caleb and I tried it out... he had a blast.

Caleb's Swimming Lesson

I wish the batteries in the camera would have lasted longer. The poor guy just cried and cried. He kept making excuse for why he couldn't float on his back... I have booboo's, I'm sick, I need to to pee right now, I need to burp!!!

American Fork Steel Days Parade

We started off the day this morning at 8:00am getting our hair cut. Here Caleb is showing off his before...

And after pictures...
What a handsome little guy!

Caleb sure loves parades. We sat next to a lady who had two little boys. Her 5 year old (Samuel) instantly befriended Caleb and the two had a great time together. They even got quite a bit of candy.

Caleb was a little scared when the fire engines came by. Watch his instant buddy Samuel, who he met this morning, cover Caleb's ears up for him while the fire engines go by. It was so cute.

The fake gunfight at the end kind of scared the poor little guys :)

4th of July

On the 3rd of July we went up to Cache Valley for a little 4th of July celebration. On Thursday we went up to the Pepperidge Farm plant in Richmond where my Dad worked when I was a kid. We bought some ice cream at Casper's (used to be called "Cascos"??? It's where they make Fat Boys and lots of other yummy treats). Then we drove by the house I lived in when I was a kid. I was amazed at how big all the trees were that my Dad had planted 30 years ago... crazy! Then we ate dinner at an Indian Restaraunt in Logan near the hotel where we stayed. Caleb and I swam in the "heated" pool for a while that night... it really wasn't that "heated" but it felt good because it was over 100 degrees that day.

The next morning we woke up and stopped at McDonalds in Smithfield and then headed in to Lewiston for the parade. There were a ton of cars there and I tried to be "smart" and was pulling a U-Turn in the street to park on the opposite side of the road so we could get out of town faster when I high-centered the Civic as it about fell into a ditch just as Amy was saying, "Are you sure about this, you don't want to get stuck!!!" Some guy helped me and we lifted it up front end as Amy backed us out and we were fine.

Caleb loved the parade; he got a lot of candy, he waved and danced in front of a lot of people and he really got grossed out by the pooper scoopers (more pictures and video to follow).

After our parade, we went over to Garden City at Bear Lake and got some nice raspberry shakes for lunch while Caleb played in a sand box with some random kid who was dumping sand in his own hair (not Caleb's thank goodness). When we left, he crashed so we headed home. It was a fun little trip.
