French Quarter

Here's a view of New Orleans by the Mississippi looking West into the French Quarter of New orleans.

Right when we walked down to go see some places we were stopped by this these Jamaican street entertainers. They usually do some acrobatic-type stunts and then ask for some money. So we pulled out a couple of dollars and waiting... and waited... and waited. Man those guys sure sucked the time out of every one. We were there for probably an hour. They were just about to start, then they'd stop and funnel as many people as they could onto the steps to see the show. This guy sure looked like "Sanka" from Cool Runnings. Near the end they pulled out Christmas socks and collected money from everyone. They could have shrunk it down to 10 minutes and we would have been fine. Amy got pretty annoyed and Caleb was being a pill, so she left before the last stunt. Can you see she was happily waiting for us to be ready to go???

This picuture almost looks like it was taken at the same place where the guy from Runaway Jury lived. Everytime we'd see a place we kept saying, "Oh, that's just like the house/restaurant/street from Runaway Jury." Funny how a movie makes you aware of a place. Amy thought it would be really cool to go back in time and see what the town square and stuff really looked like in 1800... I guess that's why tourism is a pretty popular passtime.
Greg took us to eat at the Cafe Du Mont... the famous spot right on the French Quarter. And yes, this was the place in Run Away Jury where Dustin Hoffman was eating the Binet's (deep-fried, powder sugar-covered donuts) and had his mouth all covered with powdered sugar. It was pretty cool, but very busy. Here's a shot of some lady's plate because I forgot to take a picture of the ones we ate. Posted by Picasa
