4th of July

On the 3rd of July we went up to Cache Valley for a little 4th of July celebration. On Thursday we went up to the Pepperidge Farm plant in Richmond where my Dad worked when I was a kid. We bought some ice cream at Casper's (used to be called "Cascos"??? It's where they make Fat Boys and lots of other yummy treats). Then we drove by the house I lived in when I was a kid. I was amazed at how big all the trees were that my Dad had planted 30 years ago... crazy! Then we ate dinner at an Indian Restaraunt in Logan near the hotel where we stayed. Caleb and I swam in the "heated" pool for a while that night... it really wasn't that "heated" but it felt good because it was over 100 degrees that day.

The next morning we woke up and stopped at McDonalds in Smithfield and then headed in to Lewiston for the parade. There were a ton of cars there and I tried to be "smart" and was pulling a U-Turn in the street to park on the opposite side of the road so we could get out of town faster when I high-centered the Civic as it about fell into a ditch just as Amy was saying, "Are you sure about this, you don't want to get stuck!!!" Some guy helped me and we lifted it up front end as Amy backed us out and we were fine.

Caleb loved the parade; he got a lot of candy, he waved and danced in front of a lot of people and he really got grossed out by the pooper scoopers (more pictures and video to follow).

After our parade, we went over to Garden City at Bear Lake and got some nice raspberry shakes for lunch while Caleb played in a sand box with some random kid who was dumping sand in his own hair (not Caleb's thank goodness). When we left, he crashed so we headed home. It was a fun little trip.

ATV Trip to Silver Lake

On Tuesday night we took our new ATV's up American Fork Canyon. We parked at Tibble Fork Reservoir and then rode them up to Silver Lake to eat dinner.Caleb loved it
After we ate, we spent a lot of time throwing rocks into the lake (Well, Caleb did the throwing)
On the way down we got up to about 30mph and Caleb stood up a little (he was sitting in front of me) and raised his fist into the air and screamed, "Wooo-Hoo!"
It was pretty funny.
He sure had a great time.

2008 Lehi Round Up

Today we went to the Lehi Round up. We actually started the whole "Celebration" on Thursday with the Stock Parade. We got there late and parked near the rodeo grounds so we could catch the tale end of the parade. Caleb loved the horses. As soon as this parade started Caleb kept asking where allt he horses were. He was cute.When the Boy Scouts came by with the flag Caleb even put his hand over his hear the whole time. What a good little boy!!!

He was thirsty so we got him a snow cone. He sucked the thing dry in 2 minutes, so I poured some of my gatorade on it for him to have a nice cool drink. Then it just sat there, except for the part he spilled on himself.
He got scared when the fire truck and ambulance went by because they were really loud... but he still waved at them.
He had a great time at the Rodeo with our next door neighbors. Their four year old is "My Jensen" and everytime we go outside, Caleb calls for "his" Jensen. It's really cute. They got a long great tonight.

At the end of the night however Caleb would gently put his hand under my chin and say, "Daddy, I"m done. Bed. Bath."

Caleb's 3rd B-day Party

 

Caleb's B-day Cake was a volcano made from red velvet cake and lots of frosting. He had little dinosaur candles too.
But the best part was the dry ice volcano in the middle!

Amy had a lot of little games prepared. We set the kids up into color-coded groups of 3 (depended on which color dinosaur was on their name tag).
Caleb was so excited at the bean bag toss station he didn't wait for Uncle Dave to get the bean bags out of the dinosaur, he just went for them himself and got a little stuck in the progress.

Fathers and Sons Campout - 5 Mile Pass

We left for our Fathers and Son's Campout on Friday evening around 7:30pm heading about 25 miles West of Lehi on SR-73. We weren't even past Saratoga Springs when Caleb was out cold in his car seat in the front of the car.
It was a little hard to find the camp, but when we arrived, I pitched the tent real quick, blew up the air mattress and pout out the sleeping bags hoping I'd be able to transfer Caleb over quickly.
I talked with a few of the guys who were standing around the campfire and then about 10pm I decided to move Caleb over to the tent. He did OK until we were laying down and he started gettting very restless. When given the option between tent and sleep, he'd say "no sleepy!" But then an ATV drove by and that got him all excited. We sat by the campfire for a few minutes and then he finally was out cold at 11:30pm. I managed to squeeze on one of my beanies that I brought to help him stay warm and it worked. He didn't wake up until 6:15 (Fri morning it was 5:45am and Sun morning it was 4:40am).
That morning Caleb acted really groggy as we sat by the campfire, but when he discovered some of the marshmallow sticks he loved to poke the fire, but he wouldn't get too close - so that was good.

Then he just wanted to drive around on this electric ATV. He had a blast and fell asleep after 10 minutes in the truck on the way back (at 9:30am).

Grandpa reads Caleb a Dinosaur Book

 

One of Caleb's favorite things is Dinosaurs.
Grandpa Price bought a pop-up book a while ago with Dinosaurs and when Caleb and I went over tonight Grandpa read the book to Caleb. Caleb loved it.
He would pretend that he was scared several times as the pages were read. It was hilarious to watch him bury his face into the chair in feigned fright! What a little actor.
But the biggest actress of the night was grandma. Anyone who has ever seen her read a story to kids knows what I'm talking about.

Temple for Manaus

Although this was announced May 23, 2007 I just realized I never put it on my blog. I don't think they've started construction yet, but I'll keep this site updated when I hear news or can get pictures. Amy and I are planning on going back to Brazil again for the temple dedication. I can't wait!!

Caleb's New Spidey Scooter

Caleb loves this thing. For some reason when I try to upload the video directly to blogger, it just shows a blank box. If anyone else has seen this happen to them, let me know how to fix it. I'm tired of uploading everything to YouTube and then pasting it here, but it's better than nothing!!!

And here we go outside... Caleb will get the hang of it, but I'm worried about Dad!!

Caleb's Letters and Signs

This cracks me up!!! Caleb has been watching the video Ella and Avan gave him for Christmas which shows how to pronounce all the letter sounds. He's getting really good at it. He also loves to imitate animals.

Most mornings Caleb will even come and get into bed with Amy and she'll have him imitate animals. Our favorite is a whale, dolphin, or sea turtle - anything in the ocean. He'll plop on his belly and pretend he's swimming around, then he'll come up and out of the water and pretend to wipe away the water from his eyes. It's the same for each animal... except when he's a shark, he's more scary!!!
