Grandpa reads Caleb a Dinosaur Book

One of Caleb's favorite things is Dinosaurs.
Grandpa Price bought a pop-up book a while ago with Dinosaurs and when Caleb and I went over tonight Grandpa read the book to Caleb. Caleb loved it.
He would pretend that he was scared several times as the pages were read. It was hilarious to watch him bury his face into the chair in feigned fright! What a little actor.
But the biggest actress of the night was grandma. Anyone who has ever seen her read a story to kids knows what I'm talking about.

Temple for Manaus

Although this was announced May 23, 2007 I just realized I never put it on my blog. I don't think they've started construction yet, but I'll keep this site updated when I hear news or can get pictures. Amy and I are planning on going back to Brazil again for the temple dedication. I can't wait!!

Caleb's New Spidey Scooter

Caleb loves this thing. For some reason when I try to upload the video directly to blogger, it just shows a blank box. If anyone else has seen this happen to them, let me know how to fix it. I'm tired of uploading everything to YouTube and then pasting it here, but it's better than nothing!!!

And here we go outside... Caleb will get the hang of it, but I'm worried about Dad!!

Caleb's Letters and Signs

This cracks me up!!! Caleb has been watching the video Ella and Avan gave him for Christmas which shows how to pronounce all the letter sounds. He's getting really good at it. He also loves to imitate animals.

Most mornings Caleb will even come and get into bed with Amy and she'll have him imitate animals. Our favorite is a whale, dolphin, or sea turtle - anything in the ocean. He'll plop on his belly and pretend he's swimming around, then he'll come up and out of the water and pretend to wipe away the water from his eyes. It's the same for each animal... except when he's a shark, he's more scary!!!

States Amy and I have been to since we got married...

I saw this on Mike's blog, and Amy and I were just wondering how many places we've been since being married. Our goal is to be 100% red... one day.

Laie

This is Caleb sitting on Uncle Jimmy's lap. They live in Laie and are attending BYU-Hawaii. He loves Jimmy and Mikensi and always asks to sit on their lap. Sometimes he even acts like a baby and fake cries and asks Mikensi to pick him up. He's found his home-away-from-home.
Here we are at the luxurious TVA (Temple View Apartments) as Mikensi described them to us. We were thinking about staying at the Laie Inn but Mikensi's mom stayed there and said it was horrible. Since there isn't too much on this end of the island as far as accomodations, I felt the Gilberts were very generous in being OK with our inviting ourselves to sleep over at their house.
We stopped by Costco and Wal-Mart on the way in and loaded their freezer and fridge with a few things, then we even added more the Saturday before we left. We stopped at Costco by Hanauma bay because Jimmy decided he DID like Bagel bites (and we had to get some Macadamia Nut chocolates).
Caleb loves sea turtles and we got luck seeing 3 on a beach near turtle bay. They ranged between 25-40 years old. We were shocked in talking to the bilogist who said that they don't really live to be 150 yrs old like it says on Finding Nemo. Caleb will never watch that movie again!!!
For some reason he kept doing the sign for "star fish" - don't know why. He knows the one for turtle.
We bought these squirt guns in Kauai because Caleb saw these 6-8 year old kids with them. He would just follow them around (not saying anything) while they played and then he'd reach out for them, thinking it was his turn. He started getting frustrated, then he just had a melt down on the beach.
He loves them. He took them with us to Hanauma bay and would just squeal and run away when I squirted him.
Tonight Amy dialed Grandma's number and handed the phone to Caleb. I wonder what his conversation was about???
You can barely see a seal down on the beach behind us. Caleb loves to make seal signs with his hands. This is on the North shore of O'ahu and from what we understnad there are not very many seals at all in the islands.
This is Sharks Cove at susnet. The tide was low, so you couldn't really go around snorkeling very much and Caleb just had as much fun throwing rocks out into the ocean anyway, so it was fun for him too.
We went to Hanauma Bay on Saturday. I'm waiting for the underwater pictures to be developed when we get home, but I stole this picture from Mikensi's website. Caleb loves Doritos and he just sat and ate them for 15 minutes or so. When he was done, he showed us his orange hands. Funny how they match his head, huh??

We had a great time at Hanauma Bay. We all got to take turns snorkeling, except for Mikensi who was still recovering from her kidney problems. As we got ready to leave, Caleb wanted to play leap frog with the orange emergency cones that were set up to give the lifeguards easy access to the beach. I had to pick them all up twice before we left. Too bad I didn't get a picture of it, ya know!!!
All good things come to an end, and so we had to say good-bye to Jimmy and Mikensi in Laie. Caleb dressed up for the occasion!
When we got to the San Fracisco airport, Caleb just chilled out and watched a movie for 2 hours until we headed over to our gate. Most of the people who walked by commented on how spoiled the kid is - I would have to agree in this instance :)

After he watched Ice Age, he chased me around with his stroller for 15 minutes... he was giggling and squealing and everyone who was waiting for their flights was laughing because he was so loud. We got a few "That's a cute kid!" comments... that's usually when Caleb gets shy.

Sunday in Hawaii

Caleb is ready to go on a short drive to look at some waterfalls before we head off to Church in Lihue.
This was a double waterfall... Wow look at Amy's curly hair!!!
This is as close as my zoon goes. I tried to get the flowers in the picture this time because I hear Grandma Gilbert really likes that color.
"this is my car!" Caleb wasn't too impressed with this waterfall.
But he sure was impressed with this one. It looked super steamy with all the mist and everything around the look out. It was pretty impressive!
"Hold me, I'm scared!" Sych! It's just cause I don't want to walk back to the car, Dad.
This is the chapel in Lihue. Caleb made it through about 5 minutes of sacrament after the speakers started. Oh well.
It looks like they had some kind of a school attached to the chapel, or something. A lot of the chapels out here looked like this one.
Waimeia Canyon... the Grand Canyon of the Islands.
"Whoa, Dad. Look at the rock I found!"
This is near the North shore by the NaPali coast.
Caleb was concerned because I'm scared of heights so he covered up my eyes for me.

There was a nice breeze here, so I lifted up the bottom of my shirt to let the air rush up (sure makes me look like I need the exercise, which I do) and Caleb was doing his best to copy me.
Next we drove up to the north west end of the island. This beach is the last point before the road ends and the steep mountains of the NaPali cost stretch east toward Princeville. Caleb was so excited to be back at the beach!
But this was on Sunday.
So Amy had to chase down a screaming child who was headed for the water and haul him out again.
You can't see his face, but he's not too happy in this picture.
Or this one.
But he was when I gave him the iPod so he could watch "Little Mermaid" on the way back to the hotel.
This is near Princeville (on the north shore of Kauia. It's a wilderness preserved down there somewhere. View looked cool.
